About UrduTools

UrduTools started from a simple, everyday frustration: thinking in Roman Urdu but needing proper Urdu script. Millions of people type “mera naam Ali hai” every day — in chats, in notes, in drafts — and then struggle when a school assignment, a job application, a poem, or a social media post demands میرا نام علی ہے.

Existing options were either slow, covered in pop-ups, or sent your text to distant servers. So we built the tool we wanted ourselves: a converter that is fast, free, and private.

What makes it different

• It works entirely in your browser. There is no server, no database, no account. Your words never leave your device — which also means it keeps working even with a patchy connection once the page has loaded.
• A real dictionary, not just letter-swapping. The engine knows 600+ common words — greetings, verbs in their everyday forms, time words, family terms — so shukriya becomes شکریہ, not a letter-by-letter guess. Unfamiliar words fall back to standard transliteration rules.
• Both directions. Roman Urdu → Urdu script for publishing, and Urdu script → Roman Urdu for reading text on devices with poor Urdu font support.
• Built for real use. Live conversion as you type, word and character counters, one-click copy, and .txt download for your documents.
